Is your ECU expecting multiple O2 sensors, but your custom exhaust system only has one? This resistor can prevent O2 Heater Circuit CELs - wire one into a missing O2 Heater circuit, the 40 Ohm 50 Watt resistor will fool the ECU into thinking an O2 heater circuit is available (and has reached operating temperature). 40 Ohms is enough to fool most factory ECUs into thinking the O2 sensor is fully heated.
